of glass and porcelain production, and the tradition of glass blowing.
Georges Zgheib’s modest family store has stood by the roadside for 40
years in Helweh, bordering Aamchit. The store’s every corner is filled
with hand woven artisan items; shelves are piled high with different
shaped baskets precariously balanced atop each other.
Makhoul is one of the oldest and best-known basket weavers in the
town of Kefraya, to the east of Sidon. His hand-woven baskets are
made with a deft precision that comes with 50 years of practice.
